To make long story a bitt short. Yesterday I found out that some women is using my social security number. Turns out that the persone that is using my number is working where I used to work 3 months ago. The other wierd part is that she is working with my moms name but with my social #. I strongly believe that it had to do with someone in the ofice. I was a housekeeper thier and the persone working thier is making way much more money than I did working in another position at that same work( resort). Well I think that someone in the office got my application, got my social sec # and got my moms name from the emergency contacts i provided. Well they are doing an investigation on this. What are my rights? Can I sue this buisness. I am very sensitive with my social #, I dont want anybody taking loans or credit cards with my info. I never even give my social unless I have been asurred a job positon. What can I do? I feel my personal information was violated. Please help, I am very confused

your employer has a duty to protect your employment files. you definetly have rights against the restort. you need to contact the police and the credit bureaus and let them know.
if the lady accepts some one in the office gave her this info, you can sue the resort

It is a SCAM...don't do anything else...don't contact them, don't talk to them if they call and delete their emails - don't open them. If they send a check - turn it over to the Post Office or return it to FedEx.
There are THOUSANDS of these type of scams out there... They will leave you holding the bag and owing the bank a LOT of money because any check they send you will be worthless.

I need to verify someone's academic and work history?
I have a couple of bios and i suspect they are trumped up, however i am not a prospective employer. What excuse do I use to call the university and check on his title and credentials? Can I get the person's application for federal employment via FOIA?

Federal employment is not covered by the FOIA and again you would need a signed release if you want anymore inforation other than yes or no they were not employed here and yes or no we would or would not rehire.

How do you know it is a doctor or lawyer and how do you know you are getting correct advise, especially since you want it for free, remember you get what you pay for. Laws vary from state to state and lawyers practice different specialties in law, so just talking to any lawyer won't work. Call your state bar and ask them for a referral to a lawyer. Plus a lawyer has professional liability, I would not trust any legal advise from an attorney who works over the internet.

90% of all lawyers offer the first visit as a free consultation so please don't hesitate in contacting one.

After going through 7-8 years of hard studying day nd night college I think they wanna get paid for something. Thats how they support there family. If they didnt charge anything then they would be broke.

FYI guys, times have changed. Lawyers are using the Internet, not just for the time savings, but because they can handle a lot more clients at once. It's not necessarily the lawyers themselves, but the people they have working for them around the clock.
I've done computer work for several law firms, and can tell you the successful ones are always on the cutting edge of technology. It's cheaper and more effective than working through phones, so it is the wave of the future.
